Meet the Director: Sam

Behind every great production is a dedicated team of creative, passionate, and hardworking individuals who bring the show to life. As we prepare for our upcoming production, we’re excited to introduce you to the people making it all happen.

In our new Team Member Spotlight series, we’ll be shining a light on the individuals whose talents and energy will make this production come to life.

Today, we’re excited to feature Sam, our Director, who’s bringing his unique skills, spirit, and perspective to this production. Let’s get to know Sam a little better:

Q: Where were you born and raised?

A: Frankfort, Illinois

Q: Where do you work outside of the theater?

A: I have a lot of jobs right now! Like I said, I’m performing at Town Hall Arts Center in Littleton. I’m also long-term subbing an English class for the semester at Arvada High School, and working after school at a center for students who struggle with executive function issues called Untapped Learning.

Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of theater?

A: Outside of theatre I’m a huge cinephile. I like to write, direct, edit, and watch movies!

Q: When and how did you first get involved with theater?

A: I fell in love with theatre watching my brother’s middle school performances of Little Shop of Horrors, Seussical, and Crazy For You. After that, I got involved in community theatre. My first show was Annie!

Q: What drew you to directing?

A: When I was attending Interlochen Arts Camp and studying musical theatre as a kid, we had a vocal director who gave an amazing speech to the cast. I remember at that moment having the thought, “I wanna be the person who has this effect on people one day”.

Q: How did you become involved with MMT?

A: I performed as Donkey in Shrek for MMT this past Summer!

Q: How do you approach the process of bringing a script to life onstage?

A: I like to block scenes beforehand in my own time, and use the viewing angles from the audience to inform that blocking.

Q: What are some productions you have been involved with in the past?

A: I’m currently performing in a production of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story at Town Hall Arts Center in Littleton, and last year I directed Wheat Ridge High School’s production of The Music Man.

Q: What is your favorite production you have ever been a part of? Why?

A: My favorite production I’ve been in was Fiddler on the Roof as Motel in 2024 in Muncie, Indiana. I loved doing that show because it involved so many real people from the community of Muncie making the town in the show feel very real.

Q: Do you have a dream show you’d like to work for/perform in?

A: I would LOVE to play either male lead in Legally Blonde or Aladdin!

Q: What excites you most about working on this show or what is your favorite part of this show?

A: I’m excited to be a part of these kids’ journeys of falling in love with theatre. I remember all the awesome adults that were parts of mine!

We’re so lucky to have Sam as part of our team! His passion and dedication are just a small part of what makes this production so special.

Stay tuned for more spotlights as we continue to introduce the incredible folks behind the scenes. We can’t wait for you to experience the magic they’re helping to create on stage!
